Excavate the buried emotions that are weighing you down, leave them on the page, and walk away with more clarity and much less dead weight! This potent practice allows you to bypass the mind and go straight to where your oldest emotions dwell- in the tissues of your body. Once you get the hang of it, a single session of Somatic Guided Drawing can have the same effect as several sessions of talk therapy (think of it as an important supplement to talking- not a replacement!). Best of all, you can access this healing from the comfy familiarity of your own home. The tools of your transformation? Simple crayons and paper. This class isn't about making pretty pictures, though. Your body is going to speak directly to the paper and the results are primal, visceral- and tangibly healing. This practice has been described by my 1:1 clients as ‘incredibly effective’, ‘like scratching an itch’, and ‘so cathartic’. Now I'm opening it up in a group format so that EVERYBODY can take advantage of its power! The process itself is gentle, exploratory, supportive and designed to release your burdens. You'll be encouraged to identify your edge, but never pushed to it. Over time, you'll expand your nervous system's tolerance to stress in day to day life, but you'll notice a shift after your very first experience. What to expect: • The session begins with a brief explanation of the process. It's important- please be on time! • Your camera can be on or off, facing you or angled over your paper. Ideally, I can see your paper, but this isn't absolutely necessary. • With a grounding meditation, we'll shift into our bodies and let them lead • Finally, we'll close, each person will 'translate' their drawings and, if called to, share their experience with the group. What you'll need: • Large scale paper like an 18x24 (or larger) pad, easel paper, or 18" wide (or larger) butcher paper cut to size. Each session will require several sheets of paper. • Tape to attach the paper to a table or floor. • Two matching sets of crayons. If the crayons are paper-wrapped, you'll want to remove the paper beforehand. When you register, I'll send more information, as well as links to products I like. ** If you're experiencing an acute stress response to a traumatic event, then you need more individualized support than this class can offer.
